Cairo, October 16 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty discussed, in a phone call Thursday with his UK counterpart, Yvette Cooper, the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and the results of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the need for both conflict parties to respect all their commitments, emphasizing the importance of starting the second phase of the agreement within the framework of the critical importance of faithfully implementing US President Donald Trump's plan.
He also highlighted the critical importance of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in quantities commensurate with the Strip's urgent needs.
Regarding the proposed stabilization force stipulated in the peace plan, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the need for a Security Council resolution addressing the mandate and powers of this force, in full coordination with the Palestinian side.
He emphasized the important role of the United Kingdom and the permanent members of the Security Council in this regard.
The two sides also discussed the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction, which Egypt intends to host next November, in cooperation with international partners. (QNA)
