Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake Strikes Indonesia
Jakarta, December 09 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday Aceh province, north of Sumatra, Indonesia.
Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, noting that there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.
Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity. (QNA)
