Serbian President Dissolves Parliament, Calls Snap Elections
Belgrade, September 09 (QNA) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday dissolved the parliament and called for snap parliamentary elections on Oct. 25, 2026.
The move is a reaction to the fundamental demand of the protests unfolding in the country.
He cited the major perturbations that have been playing out on the political arena over the past year and a half as the corollary for this request.
The parliamentary elections were supposed to be staged in December 2027, but anti-corruption protests nationwide since the killing of 16 people in the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse accident in back November 2024 triggered the President to make this decision. (QNA)
