5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Alaska
Washington, August 09 (QNA) An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck the US state of Alaska.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred 76 kilometers southeast of Atka, at a depth of 16.7 kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Alaska lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone where tectonic plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. (QNA)
