Manila, October 08 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck Mindanao, south of the Philippines.

The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said in a statement on Thursday that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

In turn, The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that no damage is expected, although aftershocks may still occur.

The Philippines is experiencing increased volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates intersect. (QNA)
