Japanese Stocks Fall as AI-Related Shares Decline

Tokyo, October 07 (QNA) - Tokyo stocks fell Wednesday on the selling of AI-related shares as investors locked in gains following a recent rapid rally to lock in profits.

The Nikkei index dropped 0.92% to 70,035.71. The broader Topix index fell 0.70% to 4,154.11.

Shares of chip-testing equipment maker Advantest fell 1.34%, Tokyo Electron declined 2.38%, while memory-chip maker Kioxia Holdings dropped 4.46%. Meanwhile, Nasdaq futures fell 0.8% during Asian trading hours, exerting downward pressure on Japanese stocks.

Shares of Fast Retailing, the owner of the Uniqlo chain, fell 1.07%, while SoftBank Group bucked the trend, rising 0.24%; conversely, shares of Kirin Holdings and Asahi Holdings fell 1.44% and 0.97%, respectively. (QNA)
