Nikkei Ends Steady Amid Mixed Stocks

Tokyo, April 07 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index was steady at the end of trading on Tuesday, with mixed stock performance between gains and losses.
The Nikkei fluctuated between rising and falling before closing up 0.03 percent at 53,429.56 points, while the broader Topix index rose 0.3 percent to reach 3,654.02 points.
The number of advancing stocks reached 142, compared to 81 decliners.
Shift, a software testing company, recorded the best percentage performance with a gain of 4.3 percent, while shares of electronic components manufacturer TDK rose 2.8 percent.
Meanwhile, shares of truck manufacturer Artien fell 7.2 percent, making it the worst performer on the Nikkei index, followed by Disco, a supplier of precision cutting tools for semiconductors, whose stock dropped 6.2 percent. (QNA)
