Japan's Nikkei Rises on US-Iran Deal Hopes

Tokyo, April 06 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index rose at closing time on Monday, amid hopes of a possible easing in the intensity of the war in West Asia.
The Nikkei climbed 0.55 percent to 53,413.68 points, while the broader Topix index erased its earlier gains and slipped 0.01 percent to 3,644.8 points.
Shares of Advantest, a chip testing equipment manufacturer, rose 1.74 percent. Shares of SoftBank Group, a technology investor, increased by 1.08 percent.
The shipping sector gained 1.55 percent, becoming the best-performing among the 33 sector sub-indexes on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Out of more than 1,600 stocks traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's main market, 60 percent rose, 35 percent fell, and 4 percent were unchanged. (QNA)
