Manila, August 05 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 6.4آ on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday the city of Davao in the Philippines.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the tectonic quake occurred at 37 kilometers off Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, at a depth of 13 kilograms. 

There is no destructive tsunami threat based on available data, PHIVOLCS reported, indicating that no damage is expected from the magnitude 6.4 earthquake, while aftershocks are possible. 

On June 8, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck the southern Philippines, killing 65 people and leaving 35 missing, in addition to displacing thousands of residents. (QNA)
