Geneva, May 04 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the 12th session of the Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Investment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Productive Capacity-Building and Sustainable Development, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on May 4-5 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Qatar was represented by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah.

Her Excellency presented an overview of the UNCTAD World Investment Forum 2026, reaffirming Qatar's strong commitment to cooperate with UNCTAD in hosting the forum in Doha from October 25 to 27 under the theme "Investing in the Future."

She said Qatar is working diligently to ensure the forum is held successfully and without delay despite current regional crises, noting that it will focus on key tracks including global value chains, the digital economy, green transformation, and peace and reconstruction.

She addressed the recent regional escalation and its impact on critical infrastructure and gas production facilities, highlighting the fragility of global supply chains and the profound effects of geopolitical shocks on the economic resilience of developing countries.

She stressed the urgent need to protect global economic infrastructure and maintain secure trade corridors to ensure continued development and economic security for all nations.

She also underscored Qatar's strategic position combining leadership in energy security with investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, stating that the country is accelerating strategic investments to strengthen its role as a regional hub for innovation and a stabilizing force in global markets, and expressed her anticipation of welcoming delegations to Doha in October.
