Berlin, March 30 (QNA) - Seventeen people were injured late Thursday in a fire that broke out in an apartment building in the east German city of Leipzig, police said. Two of the victims were badly injured.
A total of 29 residents were rescued from the building with ladders and a rescue net, dpa cited fire authorities .
The cause of the fire, which was believed to have been started in the building's stairwell before spreading to apartments and the roof, was thought to be arson, a police spokeswoman said.
The interior of the building, located in the in suburb of Volkmarsdorf, was completely destroyed by the blaze, according to police. (QNA)
