Shooting in Chicago Kills One Police Officer
Washington, April 26 (QNA) - A US police officer was killed and another seriously injured in a shooting incident inside a hospital in the city of Chicago.
Media outlets reported that Chicago police superintendent Larry Snelling said the incident occurred while police officers were transporting an individual for medical observation inside Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital.
The suspect opened fire, killing one officer and critically injuring the other.
Snelling added that authorities were able to arrest the attacker and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
For its part, the hospital said in a statement that the suspect had been in law enforcement custody before being transferred for treatment, and that he suddenly opened fire on officers before being subdued and detained outside the hospital building.
The incident comes amid repeated shooting events across US cities. Earlier this month, Louisiana witnessed a mass shooting that left eight children dead and ten others injured. (QNA)
