Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes China's Gansu Province

Beijing, January 26 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck on Monday Tebo County in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Gansu Province.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
Chinese authorities reported that no casualties have been reported in the affected areas so far, although cracks have been observed in some buildings.

They added that the prefecture has activated its Level III emergency response for earthquake disasters.
Last week, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province, southwest China. (QNA)
