Tunis, July 25 (QNA) - The wave of forest fires in Tunisia expanded Friday to include the Zaghouan Governorate in the northeastern part of the country, after earlier spreading to the mountains of the northwest.

A massive fire broke out in the "Tlil al-Salihi al-Dabidiba" forest area, known as "Mount Mansour 2" in Al-Fahs, in the Zaghouan Governorate.

The fire spread from the "Mount Mansour 1" fire in the Siliana Governorate due to strong winds.

Hussam Al Riyahi, head of the Forestry Center, confirmed in statements that the strong winds and high temperatures contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, which has so far consumed 200 hectares of Aleppo pine.

The fires were accompanied by a number of explosions, the nature of which has not yet been determined, without any human casualties.

He noted that military planes were being used to extinguish the fire.

Tunisian Civil Defense confirmed yesterday, Thursday, that more than 200 fires were extinguished in a single day, most of which broke out in various areas of the Pine Mountains in the northwest of the country. (QNA)
