Iraq Holds Emergency National Security Council Meeting
Baghdad, March 24 (QNA) - Iraq affirmed that the state, through its authorities and according to the constitution, holds the sole decision on war and peace and will not allow any entity or individual to usurp this right, stressing that legal measures will be taken against any party acting otherwise.
This came at the conclusion of an emergency meeting of the Iraqi Ministerial Council for National Security held Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani.
The council reiterated the Iraqi government's firm stance rejecting aggression, violations of state sovereignty, and attacks on national assets, while emphasizing a balanced policy aimed at maintaining the best relations with regional and international partners and keeping Iraq away from being dragged into conflict zones and wars.
It underscored that the security agencies are performing their national duties to preserve security and stability in accordance with the constitution and the law.
The council decided to pursue those involved in attacks on security institutions, citizens' interests, and diplomatic missions, emphasizing that no one is immune from the enforcement of the law. (QNA)
