Washington, June 22 (QNA) - NASA has begun final preparations for the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman space telescope, one of its most prominent astronomical projects during the current decade, after it arrived in Florida in preparation for its scheduled launch in August.

The agency explained that the telescope arrived at Kennedy Space Center after completing integration and testing operations, where it will undergo a series of final examinations and procedures to ensure its readiness for launch.

NASA stated that the telescope will be launched on Aug. 30 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Center, noting that the project is about eight months ahead of schedule.

After its launch, the telescope will head to the second Lagrange point (L2), where it will conduct large-scale observations aimed at studying billions of galaxies and hundreds of thousands of exoplanets, in addition to contributing to understanding the nature of dark energy that is believed to be behind the accelerating expansion of the universe.

The telescope includes a 300-megapixel main camera, in addition to advanced technologies that allow the study of exoplanets and distant celestial bodies in the infrared range, making it one of the most important space observatories that NASA relies on to answer basic questions related to the origin and evolution of the universe.
