Doha, August 19 (QNA) - Qatar Photo Festival "Tasweer" announced on Wednesday, coinciding with World Photography Day, the winners of the 2026 Tasweer Photographic Projects Award and Tasweer Single Image Award.
A total of 30 photographers were honored during an evening held at Fire Station: Artist in Residence.
Tasweer Director Khalifa Al Obaidli said World Photography Day was an occasion to celebrate the creative visions and inspiring visual narratives presented by photographers from across the region.
He noted that the winning works highlight photography's ability to bridge cultures, document life experiences and open new avenues for dialogue.
He added that photography remains a vital means of documenting the present, shaping public awareness through visual narratives and preserving moments for future generations amid rapid social and technological changes.
Twenty photographers won the 2026 Tasweer Single Image Award, while 10 photographers received the Tasweer Photographic Projects Award.
The winning works covered documentary photography, portraiture and personal narratives, exploring themes including memory, identity, heritage, connection to place and social change.
The organizers announced that this year's winning works will be displayed alongside the 2025 winning works in an exhibition during the fourth edition of Qatar Photo Festival "Tasweer" in 2027. (QNA)
