Brussels, July 20 (QNA) - European stocks closed lower today, with the pan-European STOXX 600 index falling 0.30 percent to 639.6 points. The decline was led by travel and leisure stocks, which dropped 0.95 percent.

Shares in the energy sector rose 0.98 percent. Ryanair shares however, fell 4.55 percent, making it the biggest loser on the Stoxx 600 index, after the low-cost carrier reported a 34 percent drop in first-quarter profits due to higher fuel costs and lower ticket prices.

Meanwhile, technology stocks rose 0.13 percent ahead of earnings reports from major U.S. tech companies, which could provide a boost to the sector. ComputaCenter shares jumped 5.55 percent to the top of the STOXX 600 index. (QNA)
