Beirut, March 02 (QNA) - Warplanes of the Israeli entity launched airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
A correspondent for the Qatar News Agency (QNA) in Beirut reported that the strikes came after rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward the Israeli entity, noting that a large wave of displacement occurred from the southern suburbs following the raids.
For his part, Prime Minister of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam, said in a post on the platform X that the necessary measures would be taken to apprehend those responsible and protect the Lebanese people. He described the rocket fire from southern Lebanon as an irresponsible act that endangers Lebanon's security and safety and provides the Israeli entity with pretexts to continue its attacks.
This marks the first time rockets have been launched toward the Israeli entity since the ceasefire agreement in November 2024.
A ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon entered into force on Nov. 27, 2024, stipulating the withdrawal of Israeli entity forces from border villages and towns within 60 days. The Lebanese government subsequently agreed to extend the deadline; however, Israeli entity forces have remained at five points and continue their violations. (QNA)
