Doha, February 2 (QNA) – Al Ahli qualified for the semifinals of the 2025-2026 Basketball League after defeating Al Wakrah 85-73 in the decisive match held this evening at Al Gharafa hall.

This match concluded the playoff stage, which determined the team advancing to the semifinals.

The scores for each quarter were as follows: 16-17, 26-22, 22-11, and 23-21, all in favor of Al Ahli.

Individually, Al Ahli's professional player, Nigel Armoni Johnson, continued his impressive performance, topping the scoring charts with 24 points.

He played a pivotal role in securing the victory for his team, both in scoring and playmaking under pressure.

Meanwhile, Bakary Camara stood out for Al Wakrah as his team's top scorer with 22 points, striving to keep his team in the game until the final moments.

Al Ahli's Mohammed Hashim was awarded the title of Best Qatari Player of the Match.

Al Ahli entered the decisive playoff match as the third-placed team in the league, having lost their first game of this stage to Al Sadd (fourth place) by a score of 60-76, forcing a second decisive game which they won.

Al Wakrah, who finished the classification stage in fifth place, reached this match after defeating Al Shamal (sixth place) by a score of 86-72, before their run ended against Al Ahli.

With this victory, Al Ahli secured a semifinal berth against Al Rayyan (the league leaders), with the first game of the semifinal series scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026.

In the other semifinal, Al Sadd booked their place directly in the semifinals, where they will face Al Arabi, the league runners-up, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Al Gharafa hall.

The semifinal matches will be held on March 5, 7, and 9, culminating in the final series on March 12, 14, and 16.

The best-of-three series promises an exciting finale, reflecting the rising technical and competitive level of Qatari basketball. (QNA)
