Japanese Nikkei Falls for Fourth Consecutive Day
Tokyo, November 19 (QNA) - The Japanese Nikkei index fell for a fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, amid anticipation of economic data.
The Nikkei fluctuated between gains and losses before closing down 0.3 percent at 48,537.70 points, marking its longest losing streak in seven weeks. The broader TOPIX index declined 0.2 percent.
In the previous session, the Nikkei suffered its biggest loss in more than seven months, amid concerns about valuations of technology-linked companies, which negatively affected global stock markets.
US stocks closed lower overnight, with Nvidia shares down 2.8 percent.
On the Nikkei index, 112 stocks rose versus 111 that fell. The biggest gainer was retail company Aeon, which rose 4.6 percent, followed by Toho (Tokyo), the cinema operator, which gained 3.9 percent.
The largest losers were Sumco, plunging 6.26 percent, followed by Ibiden, which declined 4.1 percent. (QNA)
