US Sanctions ICC President and Senior Prosecutor
Washington, August 18 (QNA) - The US State Department announced sanctions on President of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Japanese Tomoko Akane, and Senegalese Abdoulaye Seye, the court's senior trial lawyer.
In a statement Tuesday, the department accused the court of exceeding its powers by seeking to investigate soldiers, commanders and political officials from the United States and other countries that have not agreed to its jurisdiction or to the Rome Statute.
Under the sanctions, those concerned are barred from entering US territory, and any assets they own in the United States or that are connected to the US financial system are frozen. (QNA)
