UNESCO, ALECSO Strengthen Cultural and Educational Cooperation
Paris, June 18 (QNA) - UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) discussed a new cooperation agreement supported by an implementation program aimed at expanding collaboration in education, capacity-building, cultural heritage preservation, scientific research, innovation, and cultural policy development.
During a meeting in Paris, UNESCO Director Khaled El Enany and ALECSO Director Mohamed Ould Amar discussed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two organizations.
They also addressed cooperation in artificial intelligence and AI ethics, emphasizing the responsible use of emerging technologies while safeguarding cultural and linguistic diversity and ensuring equitable access to knowledge.
Both sides stressed the importance of launching joint initiatives that promote knowledge societies, intercultural dialogue, peace, tolerance, and sustainable development across the Arab region and beyond.
The planned agreement is expected to mark a new phase in UNESCO–ALECSO relations and reinforce support for Arab countries in advancing cultural, scientific, and educational development priorities. (QNA)
