Accra, April 18 (QNA) - Qatar Charity inaugurated a new service complex in North Tongu District in eastern Ghana, comprising a school, mosque, teachers' accommodation, and a borehole providing clean drinking water, benefiting more than 2,000 people, with support from donors in Qatar.

The inauguration took place during an official ceremony attended by HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ghana, Khalid bin Jabr Al Musallam.

In remarks on the occasion, HE the Ghanaian Foreign Minister said the project contributes to the development of minds, hearts, and communities, noting that it includes classrooms with a capacity of 250 students, administrative offices, supporting facilities, eight housing units for teachers, an automated water and sanitation system, and a mosque at Afemi Batur Technical Secondary School.

He praised the impactful partnership with Qatar Charity, describing it as a key pillar in strengthening fraternal and humanitarian relations between Qatar and Ghana, and highlighted the organization's achievements, including the implementation of 1,249 projects that have improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries over the past year.

He also underscored Qatar Charity's role in Ghana, particularly its interventions in 2025, which he said serve as a model of translating solidarity into tangible services in water, education, relief, and health sectors, contributing to social stability and local development.

For his part, Director of Qatar Charity offices in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire, Eng. Hassan Ouda, said education is a key driver of development, particularly in underserved and rural communities. He noted that Qatar Charity is committed to expanding access to quality and dignified education through building schools and supporting infrastructure that ensures students' safety and learning conditions.

He reaffirmed the organization's continued commitment, supported by its donors, to addressing key humanitarian and development challenges in Ghana through a wide range of interventions in education, health, water and sanitation, housing, livelihoods, relief, and rehabilitation, in addition to establishing multi-service centers.
