Doha, July 17 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) announced the provision of a new package of food aid to those affected by the conflict in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and those who have been displaced to the River Nile State.

In a statement, Qatar Charity said on Monday that its field teams began providing 1,200 food baskets to about 6,000 expatriates, host families, and shelters in Ad-Damar district.

The Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah city center (Rofaqa) - established by QC for orphans and their families in Nile River State, witnessed the distribution of food aid, in the presence of the state's minister of social development Tahani Mirgani and Othman Muhammad Othman, an official in Ad-Damar district.

Minister of social development in the River Nile State said about 450 families have been provided with food rations in the village of Rofaqa - established by QC, pointing out that Qatar Charity continues its efforts to support shelter centers, as well as neighborhoods that host families in Ad-Damar district.

Mirgani extended her thanks to the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their continuous support for development and humanitarian projects in the state, while Othman expressed his appreciation for the food aid.

In a related context, Othman noted the major need in the fields of food and medicine, in light of the increasing number of arrivals from Khartoum, on a daily basis.

Qatar Charity's field teams are working to continue relief efforts to support those who have been displaced to the various states of the country, as it intends to implement several water and sanitation projects, mobile clinics and central kitchens for the displaced and those affected by the war within the next few years.
