Washington, June 17 (QNA) - Apple plans to change one of the most prominent privacy features in its iCloud+ service, which could make it easier for apps and websites to detect anonymous email addresses used for registration.
The Hide My Email feature allows iCloud+ subscribers to create random and temporary email addresses to hide their real addresses, with these addresses acting as an intermediary that redirects messages to the user's primary email.
This feature relied on the @icloud.com domain, making it difficult to distinguish between regular addresses and those designed for privacy protection, according to a report by TechCrunch.
Apple explained in a note to developers that in the coming weeks it will move addresses generated through the feature to a new domain, @private.icloud.com, which may make it easier for some apps and websites to identify these addresses, and may lead to restricting their use in some services.
The company affirmed that existing addresses will continue to operate normally without interruption, with messages continuing to be forwarded to users' primary email addresses. (QNA)
