Doha, February 17 (QNA) - Funded by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and in collaboration with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Syria Education Program will provide critical winterization support to schools and students in marginalized communities in northwestern Syria.
The project aims to improve the efficiency and safety in schools and increase and maintain student attendance during harsh winter months through preventative and reactive winterization support. The project targets to reach over 190,000 beneficiaries by mid-2022 to provide access to safe, inclusive, and quality learning opportunities to children in northwest Syria and their communities.
Deputy Director General of projects at QFFD Misfer Al-Shahwani said, "Qatar Fund for Development, in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, continues to support critical interventions with the aim to address the needs of marginalized Syrian communities." This agreement is particularly important because it will offer access to quality education throughout the harsh winter conditions for Syrian children. This commitment aligns with our major goals in the fund, to ensure access to quality education for all and the wellbeing of communities affected by humanitarian crises." he added.
For its part, Head of Syria humanitarian protection and early recovery portfolio of FCDO Maria Wyard said, "I am very pleased to continue our important partnership with QFFD to support Syrian children vulnerable to conflict and the harsh winter weather. This new agreement will ensure school buildings are adequate to deliver quality education throughout winter which is key in safeguarding childrens right to have an equitable and unrestricted access to quality education."
