Beirut, November 15 (QNA) - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun has requested his Foreign Minister Youssef Raji to assign Lebanon's permanent representative to the United Nations to lodge an urgent complaint with the UN Security Council against Israel for building a concrete wall on the southern Lebanese borders that transgresses the blue line demarcated following the Israeli withdrawal in 2000, the Lebanese Presidency announced Saturday.

According to the statement, Aoun called for enclosing this complaint with the UN reports that refute the Israeli denial of building this wall and confirm instead that the wall established by the occupation army has prevented people of southern Lebanon from accessing over 4,000 square meters of spaces on Lebanese territories.

International reports confirm that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has informed Israel that this wall must be removed, since the persistent presence of the occupying forces on Lebanese soil, along with the construction operations currently underway, constitute a breach of UNSC resolution 1701, as well as Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On Nov. 27, a ceasefire deal in southern Lebanon entered into force under which the Israeli forces should have pulled out from border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within a 60-day deadline.

Thereafter, Lebanon's government agreed to extend the deadline until Feb. 18. However, the occupation army remained in five positions and still continues its violations there, which have exceeded 7,000 air intrusions and over 2,400 military activities in UNIFIL-run operation areas in the south since the agreement took effect.
