5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern Guatemala
Guatemala City, September 16 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Southern Guatemala on Wednesday.
Guatemalan National Institute for Seismology, Vulcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 28.3 kilometers.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.
Guatemala lies on an active geological layer that often causes strong earthquakes in the countries of Central America and the Caribbean. (QNA)
