5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Tonga Islands
Nuku'alofa, February 16 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck on Monday Tonga Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
The German Research Center for Geosciences reported that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 98.5 km, was located at 15.59 degrees south latitude and 173.07 degrees west longitude.
No reports have been received yet of any human losses or material damage due to the earthquake.
Tonga is an archipelago of 176 islands scattered in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located northwest of New Zealand and Australia. (QNA)
