Japan's Nikkei Closes Flat
Tokyo, September 15 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index gave up its early gains to close little changed on Tuesday, weighed down by higher oil prices and bond yields, while shares of SoftBank Group recovered from a sell-off in the previous session.
The Nikkei closed down 0.01 percent at 63,484.10 points, after rising about one percent earlier in the session, while the broader Topix index fell 0.52 percent to 4,037.16 points.
Chip stocks gave up their early gains, with Advantest shares falling 2.96 percent and Tokyo Electron shares declining 0.55 percent.
SoftBank shares jumped 7.54 percent, recouping part of the 10.7 percent losses suffered in the previous session following a sell-off in artificial intelligence-related stocks. Kioxia, a memory chip maker, also rose 2.29 percent.
Bank shares declined, with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group falling 1.4 percent and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group declining 2.67 percent. Sony Group shares also fell 1.66 percent. Of more than 1,500 stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market, 51 percent rose, compared with 44 percent that fell, while 4 percent were unchanged. (QNA)
