Tokyo, September 13 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Japan's Bonin Islands on Sunday.
The earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, the US Geological Survey reported.
Japan is located at the junction of four tectonic plates, making it particularly vulnerable to seismic activity. In 2011, an earthquake of 9.0-magnitude rocked Japan and triggered a tsunami, killing more than 15,000 people, and causing a disaster at Fukushima nuclear plant. (QNA)
