Vienna, August 13 (QNA) - French club Paris Saint-Germain won the 2026 UEFA Super Cup for the second consecutive year today after defeating England's Aston Villa 2-1 in Salzburg, Austria.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for the Parisian side in the 20th minute, before Desire Doue added a second in the 61st minute. Madjo scored Aston Villa's goal in the 45th minute.
With the victory, the French capital club secured its second successive UEFA Super Cup title and its fourth European trophy, having also won the UEFA Champions League in each of the past two seasons.
The match was officiated by Somali referee Omar Artan, the first time he had refereed the competition, after being selected by UEFA under a cooperation agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following his exclusion from officiating at the 2026 World Cup.
Paris Saint-Germain had won the Champions League for a second consecutive season in May by defeating Arsenal, while Aston Villa claimed the Europa League title with victory over Germany's Freiburg. (QNA)
