San Salvador, August 13 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck southeastern El Salvador on Thursday.

The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 56.8 kilometers, approximately 69 kilometers west of the town of Chirilagua.

No casualties or damage have been reported so far.

El Salvador was struck by a devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake in 2001, which killed hundreds and displaced thousands. (QNA)
