Qatar, Saudi Arabia Sign Energy Cooperation MoU

Riyadh, October 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that lays the framework for joint cooperation between the two fraternal countries in the various aspects of the energy industry.

The agreement was signed by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi and HRH Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, on the sidelines of the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting and the 25th WPC Energy Congress, currently being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Riyadh Energy Week.

The MoU covers cooperation in sectors like oil and gas and their derivatives, as well as refining, petrochemicals, electricity, clean hydrogen and its derivatives, renewable energy, and energy efficiency and storage.

In the fields of emission reduction and sustainability, the agreement addressed cooperation in and climate change mitigation technologies, such carbon capture, transport, reuse, and storage solutions. It also covered enhancing joint international cooperation and coordination on matters related to energy, sustainability, and climate change in relevant international initiatives and frameworks.

This MoU will enter into force upon the conclusion of legal procedures in both the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (QNA)
