Cairo, October 12 (QNA) - Qatar Charity announced Monday the opening of an office in the Arab Republic of Egypt, during a ceremony held for the occasion in Cairo.

The ceremony was held in the presence of HE Chairman of Qatar Charity Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Minister of Social Solidarity of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Maya Morsi, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, alongside a number of officials, media figures, and representatives of relevant entities and institutions.

In his remarks during the ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani said that the opening of a Qatar Charity office in Egypt marks a significant milestone in the humanitarian and developmental cooperation between the two fraternal nations. He described it as a practical embodiment of the bonds of brotherhood, shared history, and noble humanitarian values, rooted in cooperation, solidarity, and service to humanity, that unite them.

His Excellency noted that, throughout history, Egypt has been a beacon of knowledge and civilization, a cradle of culture and thought, and a genuine source of humanitarian contributions whose impact has extended across the globe. He added that the opening of the Qatar Charity office in Egypt marks a significant strategic milestone in the organization's journey, embodying its commitment to enhancing its humanitarian and developmental impact through effective partnerships.

His Excellency pointed out that Qatar Charity's office in Egypt is the 35th in its global network, reflecting the belief that the most impactful humanitarian work is that which remains close to communities and operates alongside national institutions, in alignment with the host country's national strategies.

His Excellency highlighted that this office represents more than just a new field presence for Qatar Charity; it serves as a platform for joint cooperation and a bridge for strengthening humanitarian and developmental partnerships and exchanging expertise. This contributes to maximizing positive impact and fostering values ​​of solidarity and giving, as the office extends the ongoing cooperation and partnership with various distinguished Egyptian national institutions dedicated to community service and humanitarian work.

His Excellency indicated that these partnerships have resulted in the implementation of impactful initiatives in the fields of health, social development, food security, and social welfare, and have contributed to enhancing integration between charitable and developmental efforts.

HE the Chairman of Qatar Charity expressed his aspiration to build a new phase of joint action aimed at enhancing the contribution of charitable work to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals; Qatar Charity seeks to deliver humanitarian and development interventions exceeding USD 10 million in value during the first phase.

For her part, HE Dr. Maya Morsi said that the inauguration of the Qatar Charity office in Egypt represents a new step that opens up broader horizons for institutional, humanitarian, and developmental cooperation between the two fraternal nations, adding to the ongoing cooperation between them.

Her Excellency expressed her hope that this step would provide a strong impetus for a long-term partnership characterized by the convergence of expertise, capabilities, and shared visions. She noted that the recent period has demonstrated a clear model of cooperation between Qatar Charity and Egyptian institutions, particularly in crisis response and support for humanitarian efforts.

Her Excellency highlighted the Egyptian-Qatari cooperation since October 2023 to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian aid to the Strip.

Her Excellency emphasized that this experience reflects the importance of integrating the efforts and expertise of humanitarian institutions in both countries. She stressed that social and humanitarian work is most impactful when grounded in partnership, trust, and the exchange of expertise, thereby enhancing the capacity to mobilize, respond, and reach individuals at the right time and place.

Her Excellency expressed hope for enhanced cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity and Qatar Charity in the coming period, and for the Qatar Charity office to serve as a fresh starting point for partnerships with Egyptian institutions, as well as a natural extension of the strong ties uniting the two countries.

Her Excellency also congratulated Qatar Charity on the opening of its office in Egypt, wishing its leadership and team success, and hoping that the office would contribute to bringing social work closer to the citizens and making it more impactful and sustainable.

In turn, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani said that the inauguration of a Qatar Charity office in Egypt represents a new step reflecting the depth of the solid, fraternal relations uniting the two countries.

His Excellency noted that relations between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt are based on close historical and people-to-people ties, as well as a shared will to enhance cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples.

His Excellency indicated that charitable and humanitarian work serves as a vital bridge fostering values ​​of solidarity and mutual support among communities, embodying noble Islamic and humanitarian principles, and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development.

HE Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani pointed out that Qatar Charity possesses extensive experience in the fields of humanitarian and development work. Through its programs and projects, the organization seeks to provide support and implement initiatives that contribute to improving living conditions, supporting the education, health, and social welfare sectors, and empowering the most vulnerable groups.

His Excellency highlighted that the inauguration of the office represents an opportunity to develop humanitarian and development cooperation programs and to leverage available expertise and capabilities, in alignment with the priorities and needs of Egyptian society and in coordination with the relevant Egyptian authorities.
