Madrid, September 12 (QNA) - Britain's Lando Norris, the world champion, secured pole position for the third time this season on Saturday for the Spanish Grand Prix, the latest round of the Formula 1 World Championship, edging championship leader Kimi Antonelli in the championship's much-heralded first appearance at the Madring circuit.

Norris posted the fastest qualifying time of 1:31.824, finishing 0.011 seconds ahead of Italy's Antonelli and 0.140 seconds clear of Dutchman Max Verstappen, who qualified third and remains a force to reckon with.

Britain's Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth, 0.189 seconds off the pace, while Monaco's Charles Leclerc took fifth, 0.195 seconds behind Norris.

It was the 19th pole position of Norris's career and his third of the season. (QNA)
