Islamabad, May 10 (QNA) - Authorities in Pakistan announced that at least three police officers were killed and several others injured in a car bombing followed by an armed assault targeting a security facility in Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwestern Pakistan.
In a statement, Pakistani police said that a suicide bomber and several armed attackers detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives near a security center in the Bannu area bordering Afghanistan, triggering intense gun battles with security forces.
Security officials added that the attack targeted a police facility on the outskirts of Bannu, noting that the explosion caused parts of the security site and several nearby homes to collapse, while the armed clashes continued.
The sources also said that the militants ambushed security forces rushing to the scene to provide support, resulting in additional injuries among security personnel. The attackers also used drones during the assault.
Authorities declared a state of emergency in government hospitals in Bannu, while ambulance and rescue teams were dispatched to the attack site to transport the wounded. (QNA)
