MECC Rehabilitates Wild Trees Damaged by Recent Weather
Doha, April 01 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), through its Wildlife Development Department, has intensified efforts to rehabilitate wild trees affected by recent weather events.
Field teams have stabilized partially fallen trees, reinforced surrounding soil, and repaired damaged trunks and branches to ensure their growth and sustainability.
Completely uprooted trees were moved to Al Ghashamiya nursery for specialized care, preserving their genetic stock for future propagation.
The ministry emphasized the importance of rapid field response during the rainy season to minimize tree loss and maintain ecosystem balance.
The public was urged to report damaged trees and avoid flood channels or tampering with plants during and after rainfall, supporting national efforts to protect Qatar's wild flora.
These initiatives align with the ministry's vision to promote environmental sustainability, preserve natural resources, and advance the rehabilitation of Qatar's wildlands in line with global best practices. (QNA)
