Qatari Newspaper Editorials -1-
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper noted that Syria is now entering a new era and historic phase after the Syrian armed opposition overthrew the Assad regime.
The newspaper added that with these rapid developments, significant challenges loom for the Syrian leaders, the foremost of which is the need to preserve national institutions and the unity of the state, and to prevent the country from slipping into chaos. All factions must engage in dialogue that involves all parties, avoid revenge, elevate the concepts of tolerance and dialogue, and safeguard the rights of all components of Syrian society, Al-Sharq emphasized.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar, which stood by the Syrian people, is closely following the developments in Syria. The State called on all factions to engage in dialogue to preserve the blood of the people and protect the national institutions of the state. It reaffirms its stance calling for the end of the Syrian crisis in accordance with international legitimacy decisions and Security Council Resolution 2254, in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian people and preserves the unity, sovereignty, and independence of their country.
Similarly, Al-Arab newspaper in its editorial said that Qatar's stance toward the Syrian revolution has always been clear and unwavering, stemming from its moral and humanitarian commitment to a people struggling for freedom and dignity. Since the beginning of the revolution, Qatar has stood by the Syrian people, supporting their aspirations to rid themselves of an oppressive regime that used excessive force to silence the voices calling for change.
The newspaper concluded by stressing that Qatar's reiterated support for the Syrian people will continue, in order to achieve Syria's stability and empower its people to build a modern state that reflects their aspirations.
Meanwhile, the Peninsula stressed that Qatar realized the paramount importance of dialogue and decided to establish centers and launch initiatives to support dialogue, in addition to playing a key role in supporting the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), adding that Qatar established the Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations (QCAC) to highlight the contribution of Arab and Islamic civilization to other civilizations and human progress in general, bring followers of religions closer, and encourage peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others regardless of their religion, culture, or civilizational background.
On the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2024, the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Qatar University organized a ceremony to honor the winners of the Qatar Global Award for Dialogue Among Civilizations 2024, the newspaper said.
It added that HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi said the celebration of the winners of the Award comes within the framework of implementing the objectives announced in Qatars plan for the Alliance of Civilizations 2023-2027, which emphasizes giving awards for distinguished and funded research in dialogue among civilizations.
The newspaper concluded by noting that the Award, launched in 2018, has made great progress over the past six years and has become the focus of attention of academic and research circles and institutions from various cultures. It begun to attract researchers from many countries of the world, which is reflected in the increase in the number of applicants. (QNA)
