Qatar Facilitates Release of US Citizen in Afghanistan

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - The State of Qatar announced that it facilitated the release of US citizen George Glezmann, who had been detained in Afghanistan. The statement explained that he has arrived in Doha and will depart for his home country at a later time.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, expressed the State of Qatar's appreciation for the fruitful cooperation demonstrated by both the Afghan caretaker government and the United States of America, emphasizing that Qatar consistently seeks to activate mediation efforts to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, disputes, and complex international issues, based on the principles of its foreign policy, which focuses on promoting a culture of dialogue as a strategic approach to strengthening security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

His Excellency stressed that the Afghan caretaker government's response to this process is a gesture of goodwill, reflecting its will to engage in dialogue and communication with the international community. His Excellency also pointed out that such as this approach deserves encouragement to establish mutual understanding and move forward in resolving all outstanding issues. (QNA)
