Qatari Newspaper Editorials -1-
In its editorial titled "Qatar... Supporting Stability Efforts in Lebanon," Al-Sharq noted that the State of Qatar has consistently taken the lead in providing the necessary assistance to all brotherly Arab nations, as part of its steadfast commitment to enhancing regional stability and supporting Arab cooperation.
Through its foreign policy which is based on dialogue, preventive diplomacy, mediation, and good offices, Qatar has contributed to resolving conflicts through peaceful means, fostering understanding, achieving reconciliation, and assisting in laying the foundations for sustainable and peaceful political solutions aimed at building common ground among different parties, Al-Sharq said.
In this context, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi held meetings in Beirut Monday with a number of Lebanese officials. The meetings focused on efforts to address the presidential vacuum in Lebanon. His Excellency reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast position towards the Lebanese Republic, its unity and the integrity of its territories. He also emphasized the critical importance of the role played by the Lebanese Army in strengthening security and stability in Lebanon and in preserving the sovereignty of the state and the unity of its territories, especially in light of the growing security and political challenges facing the region, the newspaper added.
The State of Qatar never hesitates to provide all forms of support to Lebanon. This reflects Qatar's deep commitment to Lebanon's security and stability, as well as its efforts to help the country overcome the political and economic crises it is currently facing, Al-Sharq concluded.
In another matter, English newspaper The Peninsula said that Qatar has achieved many goals set under countrys vision to transform its transport system into an eco-friendly and sustainable model to address global challenge of climate change.
In its editorial titled " Materializing the Plans," the Peninsula said that under a new welcome initiative, HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani has laid the foundation stone for an electric bus assembly plant at Um Alhoul Free Zone, in collaboration between Mowasalat (Karwa), Yutong and Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ).
The project aims at establishing a production hub for EU-standard electric buses on an area of nearly 53,000 square metres. The construction is set to be complete by the end of 2025, The Peninsula added.
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) is working to achieve the gradual transition of Qatars public transport bus system to 100% electric fleet by 2030, the paper said. (QNA)
