Damascus, January 31 (QNA) - The historic visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic was highlighted today by a number of Syrian newspapers and media outlets, which viewed it as a significant step that demonstrated the State of Qatar's unwavering commitment to helping the Syrian people in a variety of ways.

The visit of HH the Amir, as agreed upon by the media, marks a new phase of collaboration between the two nations and highlights Qatar's significant contribution in aiding Syria in recent years.

As the first visit of its kind for a head of state since the overthrow of the previous regime last December, the Syrian media noted that HH the Amir's visit to Damascus demonstrates the Qatari leadership's strong commitment to aiding the Syrian people and validates its attempts to rally international support in order to realize Syrians' aspirations.

The intensive media coverage highlighted the significance of the visit and its political and humanitarian dimensions, praising the brotherly relations between the Syrian and Qatari peoples, and expressed the appreciation of the Syrians for the firm positions taken by the State of Qatar to support their causes in various forums.

Syria TV paid great attention to the visit through special coverage, saying that this visit comes in light of the political and humanitarian support provided by Doha to the Syrian revolution since its beginning. With the arrival of HH the Amir in Damascus, this stage marks the opening of Syria and its new leadership to the countries of the region and the restoration of its role as a leading and influential country, it said.

Syria TV broadcast scenes from the meeting of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with HE President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmed Al Sharaa, upon HH the Amir's arrival at Damascus International Airport and the warm welcome of the Syrians to their Qatari brothers, and also continued to cover the atmosphere of the meeting at the hospitality palace in Damascus.

For its part, the official Syrian news agency (SANA) devoted a wide space in this coverage, conveying the atmosphere of the reception of HH the Amir moment by moment, highlighting the importance of this visit and its role in strengthening bilateral relations, in addition to emphasizing Qatar's continued support for Syria in various fields.

The Syrian Alwatan kept up with the visit from its first moments by covering the arrival of His Highness and the accompanying delegation to Damascus International Airport, focusing on the warm reception accorded to His Highness.

In a report published by the Syrian newspaper Zaman Al-Wasl on the broad Syrian welcome to the visit of HH the Amir to Damascus, the newspaper surveyed the opinions of citizens who expressed their happiness and optimism about this visit, stressing that it represents a historic event and the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between the two countries.

Syrian academics and politicians expressed their great appreciation for the visit paid by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Syria, pointing out that the Syrian people always remember His Highness's firm positions and courageous efforts in supporting the Syrians and defending their cause.

Commenting on the importance of the visit, Syrian professor and academic Yahya Al Aridi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Syria remembers Qatar's firm and continuous position in support of the Syrian people at all levels - economic, political and humanitarian, and that Doha was the only place where the Syrian revolution had an embassy, which the Syrians greatly appreciate.

Al Aridi, the former Dean of the Faculty of Media at Damascus University, continued by saying that HH the Amir is visiting Damascus today as the first head of state to do so, while recalling Qatar's brotherly and sincere support for the Syrian people on every front. This significant stance is a debt we owe, and we hope to repay it to Qatar, he said.

In another statement to QNA, secretary-general of the Syrian national movement Dr. Zakaria Malahifji spoke about the popular and emotional dimension of this visit, stressing that Syria welcomed HH the Amir with joy and true love as the Syrian memory always remembers His Highness's positions and courageous efforts in defending the Syrian people and their cause.

Director of the Syrian center for community development Radwan Al Atrash told QNA that this visit represents a major turning point, saying that HH the Amir's visit is not just a diplomatic step but a clear declaration of a new Arab openness towards Syria and a support for the transitional phase with the aim of achieving security, stability and reconstruction.

He added that Qatari projects such as Al Amal City in the Aleppo countryside constitute a fundamental pillar in improving the living conditions of Syrians, especially those returning to their areas after years of displacement.

For his part, economic expert Dr. Yasser Al Hussein, in a statement to QNA, said that the visit reflects the State of Qatar's commitment to supporting the Syrian economy and opening new horizons for investment, saying that the resumption of Qatar Airways flights to Damascus International Airport is an indication of Syria's restoration of its relations with its Arab surroundings; and the Qatari aid that has been flowing since December 8, 2024, contributed to improving the humanitarian situation by supporting the health sector, securing food and shelter, and helping in the rehabilitation of infrastructure.
