Doha, September 04 (QNA) - Chief of Projects Delivery at Qatari Diar Eng. Fahad Al Jahrami emphasized that Qatar's hosting FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has contributed to accelerating the pace of development in the State of Qatar in an alignment with the efforts dedicated to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, pointing out to the full readiness of the modern city of Lusail to receive the world during the forthcoming Mondial.
He clarified in statements that Qatar has witnessed the construction of numerous sophisticated infrastructure projects over the past years, including Doha Metro, roads networks and the iconic modern city of Lusail that was established to support the economic growth in the state of Qatar, which he underscored, is a practical embodiment for Qatar's national vision and one of the most crucial and wide development pillars; noting that the construction of this integrated and iconic modern city was among the plans that were set before winning the right to host the Mondial by Qatar, as the city accommodates over 400,000 inhabitants and visitors and has ample opportunities of various recreational aspects.
He stated that the sustainable city includes numerous residential buildings, hotels, sports utilities, trading centers, in addition to tourist attractions and spacious parks, pointing out that the city features an integrated network of sophisticated public transport, whilst its master plan includes the public transportation system that is capable of serving over one million fans whom the modern iconic city is prepared to receive them during the Mondial, in addition to a number of a wide range of park & ride facilities distributed across the city, as well as light tram network connected with the metro, maritime transport, and pedestrian & cycling tracks with a length of 75 km.
Eng. Fahad Al Jahrami added that transportation diversity, including its integration and Interoperability in Lusail are the unique characteristics of the city, pointing out that Qatar made a success in revolutionizing the transportation across the city without the need for vehicles, which is a practical embodiment of the concept of sustainable city, indicating that he looks forward to seeing the moment of the city becoming the focus of the world's attention when it hosts the finals of the Mondial on December 18, 2022, where the atmospheres of suspense and enthusiasm will persist during the whole times of the tournament, specially during the final match which is anticipated to be broadcasted through screens for billions of soccer fans worldwide in conjunction with a precious occasion which is the national day for the state of Qatar.
He noted that Lusail city hosted a number of sporting mega events during the past years, including 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, first Formula 1 race in Qatar in 2021, and less than 100 days later it will be at the heart of the event during the anticipated tournament through embracing the largest tournament stadiums as It occupies a special place in the hearts of Qataris, and today it reflects the country's vision and ambitions for the future, pointing out that the persistent work to convert the area into a model and iconic city has began since 2005 until it became ready today to receive visitors and fans from round the world during the Mondial event, because the stadium the city embraces witnesses football matches during the entire phases of world cup contests starting with the anticipated match between Argentina and Saudi Arabia on November 22 for group (C), to be concluded with the final of the tournament on December 18.
In addition, Qatari Diar Real Estate Company was established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority with the objective of contributing to supporting the thriving Qatari economy and coordinating the priorities of real estate development in the country. The project of Lusail city is considered the most importance station in the history of the company which has promptly received standing ovation and appreciation for employing innovative techniques and approaches in the world of real estate.
Moreover, the iconic Lusail stadium which accommodates over 80,000 fans is set to host Lusail Super Cup next Friday which witnesses an anticipated match between Al Hilal Saudi Football Club, champion of the Saudi League, and Zamalek Club, champion of the Egyptian League, preceded by a concert performed by the star of Arab singing, the artist Amr Diab.
