Doha, September 13 (QNA) - The Cameroon's national football team's captain Vincent Aboubakar, scorer of the African Nations 2021, confirmed that his team can surprise everyone at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in which they participate in Group VII with the national teams of Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia.
The captain spoke in a statement today to the FIFA website about Cameroon's readiness to challenge Brazil in Qatar, noting that the World Cup is a beautiful competition full of emotions.
Aboubakar said that they will play in the group of Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia, which is a good group, confirming that they are not afraid of Brazil, and that Brazil has some good players, but a united team with a strong mentality is able to go far, unlike a team with famous names.
He explained that they have to get to the World Cup in the best condition without injuries and prepare well, then to see what can happen, focusing on their team, Vincent highlighted their coaching staff's skills to prepare them in the best way to present a big tournament.
He pointed out that Brazil did not present a good tournament at the 2014 World Cup, and they will come to this tournament with a greater desire and they have a group of players who have become more mature and want to win a title, "but we are also a big team and represent a big country and we can do good things," he commented.
Vincent Aboubakar, the captain of the Cameroon national team, said that he played in the World Cup at the age of 18, where he was one of the youngest players in the Cameroon squad in 2010 and 12 years later, preparing to represent his country at the World Cup, this time as a team captain.
Between the beginning in 2010 and today Vincent's career has gone through many positive and negative moments, from the frustrating participation in Brazil 2014, where he participated in two matches and could not score at the time when Cameroon lost to Croatia and Brazil (4-0, 4-1) respectively, to the achievements of the African Nations Cup 2017 and 2021.
