NFHR's Third Session Discusses Respect for Cultural Diversity in Exchange of Respect for National Cultural Subjectivity
Doha, September 13 (QNA) - The third session of the National Forum on Human Rights (NFHR) discussed the role of law enforcement agencies and respect for human rights in the context of controlling individual and collective behavior during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament through security, legal and media vision.
The session was addressed by the supervisor of the institutional reputation office at the public relations department of the Ministry of Interior Sheikha Asma Abdullah Al-Thani, Salma Rashid Al Buainain from the international cooperation bureau of the Ministry of Labor, and media consultant at Qatar Media Corporation Dr. Ilham Badr Al Sada. It reviewed the procedures undertaken by the police and methods of dealing with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 audience, in addition to the vision that was set for this issue in light of the Qatari security awareness experience pertaining to the respect for social peace values, Qatari national value system, as well as the foundations of security authorities' media communication with the Mondial audience.
The session also tackled the role of Media in promoting the national identity, and culture of acceptance of others with necessary observance of diversity and respect of national identity from a media perspective, with the essential observance of Qatar's occupation of advanced position in security and safety indicators, where the country comes at the forefront of the middle east and north African countries in the global indicators concerning security status, as well as reviewing the efforts of the State of Qatar in enacting legal legislations that safeguard laborers and presenting the key functions of the security communication strategy of the ministry of interior represented by raising the awareness, media, institutional reputation, countering misinformation, managing the security crises through media and sustainable heritage.
The attendees talked about the efforts of the State of Qatar, represented by the ministry of labor, whether at the legislative level or institutional level, on the preservation of laborers' rights and the provision of decent work for them through enforcing a package of measures at the level of legislations, policies and executive procedures in the implementation of the ratified conventions and in congruent with the international labor standards represented in the establishment of labor dispute settlement committee in 2018 and law No. 17 of 2018 that includes the establishment of workers' support and insurance fund, law No. 15 of 2017 on the establishment of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking (NCCHT) and other legislations, pointing out that it is imperative to exert concerted efforts between the security system and the entire local community institutions for the success of the tournament.
During the session, the efforts and preparations of Qatar Media Corporation, represented by its eight radio and TV channels that are broadcasting around the clock, have also been reviewed, including the pledge to observe the cultural diversity of the resident communities in the State of Qatar, including the essential respect for cultures and adherence to beautiful tolerance values which originally exist in the Qatari character, promote the national identity and ensure that translation into the English language is available on Qatari Television channels during the World Cup to further introduce the cultural and civilized heritage of the State of Qatar.
