Berlin, December 07 (QNA) - The German Football Association (DFB) announced Wednesday that Hansi Flick will remain the head coach of the team despite his team's group-stage exit at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

After a meeting with Flick, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said: "We are all convinced that the 2024 European Championship in our own country represents a great opportunity for football in Germany.

"We have full confidence in Hansi Flick that he will master this challenge together with his team." Flick said: "My coaching team and I are optimistic about the European Championship in our own country. We as a team can achieve much more than we showed in Qatar. We have missed a great opportunity there. We will learn our lessons from that." Germany was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage for the second time, after finishing third in Group E. Germany's participation ended with a shocking opening defeat against Japan 1-2, a draw with Spain 1-1, and a victory over Costa Rica 4-2. (QNA)
