Doha, December 03 (QNA) - The assistant coach of the Senegal national football team, French Regis Bogaert described the confrontation that his national team will play tomorrow against its English counterpart in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as difficult, stressing that despite that, the Senegalese squad has the capacity and ambition that enable it to score and get ahead of the competition.

Bogaret said during a press conference, from which Coach Aliou Cisse was absent due to a health ailment, that a difficult match against the English squad awaits his team, however he is confident that the Senegalese team is able of winning and proceeding in the tournament.

Bogaret continued that the Senegalese national football team has proven that it is able to perform well despite influential absentees amongst its ranks, especially the absence of one of its best players, Sadio Mane, the influential player in the squad.

He remarked that Beating England, a high-ranking team and one of the strongest candidates for the championship, would be wonderful, saying that perhaps this generation repeats what the 2002 generation did, which was beating France at the time.

The assistant coach of the Senegalese national football team concluded by saying that African teams must be ambitious, because in the near future they will be able to compete with other big teams for the World Cup title, therefore Africans must believe in their capabilities, just as Cameroon defeated Brazil and Tunisia beat France, Senegal can also win England. He added that it is imperative that when the Senegalese squad plays tomorrow, it believes in its ability to win. (QNA)
