Doha, December 21 (QNA) - Al Warkra SC coach Bartolome Marquez Lopez praised the State of Qatar's achievements in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in terms of its great environment and the compactness of the stadiums.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency, he said that this edition of the World Cup was the best in history given the impeccable organization and the great matches.
The former Espanyol coach pointed out that the Argentine national team deserved to win the World Cup after it was able to correct its course quickly and overcome losing the first match to Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the performances of Enzo Fernandez in particular, as well as Julian Alvarez up front who helped Lionel Messi make the difference. He added that Qatari football benefited from the national team's participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
On the league season, he said that will look to build on last season and try to challenge for the title. The league season will resume January 4. It was suspended on Sep. 14 ahead of the start of the World Cup. Al Wakra finished third last season with 37 points. (QNA)
