Doha, December 15 (QNA) - Qatar Legacy Program ambassador Mubarak Mustafa said that the State of Qatar produced the best-ever World Cup hosting at all levels.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Arabi historic striker said that misperceptions were altered once the World Cup kicked off, football fans and all international media outlets showed Qatar's excellence in all organizational and logistical aspects of the tournament, removing the negative image due to anti-Qatar campaigns in several forums.
Qatar won the bet on the close distances between the stadiums, which gave the tournament an advantage that is difficult to find in any other World Cup The Qatari national team played on its soil and among its fans for the first time in the World Cup, and it was only required to give a bright image and satisfactory performance to leave a positive impression similar to the historic opening ceremony, the retired star said.
The underwhelming performance can be ascribed to the pressures on the players and fear, because the World Cup is different from the Gulf and Asian championships, he added, voicing hopes that this participation will be built on in the future and that the Qatari team will qualify for the 2026 edition.
He also called for replacing Spanish coach Felix Sanchez because the technical change in the Qatari national team is required in the next stage. (QNA)
